      Can I be/have a caregiver for a medical marijuana patient in Vermont?

      Yes, medical marijuana patients in Vermont can have a caregiver. Caregivers must submit their own application, either online or by mailing a printed application.

       

      Caregiver Requirements:

      • Minimum 21 years of age and a Vermont resident.

      • A caregiver can serve up to two (2) patients at a time, and a patient shall have only one registered caregiver at a time.

        • Patients under 18 years of age may have two (2) registered caregivers.

      • A registered patient may register as a caregiver for up to two (2) registered patients, but they cannot register as their own caregiver.

      • The Cannabis Control Board (CCB) will conduct a background check on caregivers before issuing a caregiver card.

      • $50 nonrefundable fee.

      Here's how the caregiver process works:

      1. Complete a caregiver application either online or by mailing a printed application. More information on electronic and paper applications can be found here.

        1. Online applicants must use a different email address from the patient's to create a portal account. Renewing patients and caregivers who do not have an online portal account should email the medical program to request an account.

        2. Printed applications must be submitted with the patient's signature and a nonrefundable $50 check or money order payable to the Vermont Medical Cannabis Program. Paper applicants must submit their digital photo for their ID card via email to CCB.MED@vermont.gov.

      2. You do not need to submit a printed application in addition to applying online.
