Can I get an MMJ Card for my child in Illinois?
Minors under 18 can qualify for an Illinois medical marijuana card with consent from a biological parent or legal guardian who will serve as their caregiver. State law requires minors to receive two certifications from two healthcare providers.
An online consultation with two Leafwell providers costs $198. You will not be charged if your child is not approved.
The requirements for patients under 18 are:
- At least one caregiver must be the patient's biological parent or legal guardian. One caregiver is included at no charge in the minor patient's application, and up to three caregivers can be designated.
- Minor qualifying patients need two certifications — an initial certificate from the first provider and a reviewing certification from the second.
- Designated caregivers of registered minor patients may only purchase medical cannabis-infused products from licensed dispensaries. Other types of medical cannabis products are not allowed.
