What are the medical marijuana laws in Washington, D.C.?
Here is a brief overview of the history of medical marijuana laws and legislation in Washington, D.C.:
- 2010 – Council of the District of Columbia legalized medical cannabis
- January 1, 2011 – the medical cannabis program became legal
- March 4, 2014 – the Council of the District of Columbia decriminalized the possession of cannabis
- February 26, 2015 – Initiative 71 legalized the recreational use of cannabis. However, this Initiative was partially overturned by Congress, so while use, possession, and growing are legal, it is illegal to sell cannabis for adult use.
